PANACEA 2021

conference summary

PanACEa: Asexuality Asia Conference 2021 was a week-long, online conference on asexuality, conceptualized by Indian Aces and Humans of Queer. Held during International Asexuality Awareness Week, the conference sought to educate people about asexuality and the intersectionality of identities and cultures. The conference functioned as a space for community building and safe conversation of aspec and queer people.
PanACEa 2021 led to discussions on the nuances of lived experiences in Asian cultures as opposed to western queerness in sessions such as ‘Intersections of Queer & Socio-Cultural Identities’, ‘Language, Laws and Discrimination’ and ‘Representation, Media and Acceptance’. It also elevated asexual voices through the presentation of research papers and provided fun spaces for learning and decompressing through workshops like ‘A Shrine Unto Myself’.
